Exclamation 1999 mustang low beams dead

Hello everyone

My car is a 1999 mustang V6 with no fog lights. My cousin and I were hooking up a new HID headlight kit which has low beam and high bean. We finished it up and there was a problem...the low beam wouldn't work only the high beam. We removed everything and put the stock lights back in and the low beam still doesn't work. The high beam is working fine. We replaced one of the fuses for the low beam Right hand side because it was blown. But it still won't work. The other side fuse was not blown though. All fuses are now fine but still no low beam light on both the stock and HID kit. What else can I do?? At the moment we left the HID kit inside and I'm just using the high beams for now.

Call the OEM of that kit and ask them to help you troubleshoot the problem.
If the OEM is a foreign manufacturer then call the retailer that sells the kit and troubleshoot with them.

Was this HID kit a direct plug N play or did you have to cut and splice things together?

Its also possible that the multiswitch may have gone bad but it would be a real coincidence for it to happen at the same time that you put the HID kit in.

At the least you should check the multiswitch out by replacing it to see if it fixes the problem.

Did you test the fuses or just eyeball them? Sometimes a dead fuse will appear fine.

Plus a freakin million!

I blew my brake light fuse and of course was locked out of shifting into drive (Had to do the ol manual over ride) and all the fuses LOOKED good but upon testing it the fuse was blown.

Also make sure that there is power at the connector. The high and low beams are different circuits, so they have different wires that get power (one for high and one for low), and one going to ground. Since you have high beams, you know you have a good ground connection. So you want to track down the lack of power. Power goes through the battery -> fuse -> multi-function switch -> head lights.

Good luck...

Hey guys sorry I took so long to reply it was a very frustrating weekend .
It turned out my cousin had overlapped the fuses under the steering wheel by accident thats why we were clueless as to why it wasn't working!!! Gotta make sure I have proper lighting when working then we wouln't have had this problem! So it's working fine now the low/high beams but there is one problem.

The lights will only come on when I pull the light switch all the way out. There is no light on when I turn the car on. I have to pull the light switch out for it to come on...I don't want to take it back to my cousin and bug him again... ...I'm guessing its call "day-time running lights".

Thanks
