Default best brake system for the stang?

hey guys!! I am in need of some more stopping power. i been looking at the AM Powerslot Rotors and DBA Cross-drilled/Slotted Rotors. Im just wondering if its worth going that route.Or should i just go with a conversion braking kit?

I got really lucky with that kit, it just takes a lot of searching and a lot of patience.

Your 04' Already has good brakes and a good set of pads will help make them better.

The way you can look at it though is $120 for good pads is about a third the cost of going to Cobra Brakes but another way to look at it is going with good pads and great rotors on Cobra brakes is about 1/2 way to 2000 Cobra R brakes.

You have to decide how much you want to spend and how much you need to stop. Will you be racing? Is this only a DD car? Or is it a combo of the two?

The better brakes to use are the 99-01 and 03/04 Cobra brakes which were a Dual piston caliper which measured 40mm x 40mm in the caliper. The 94-98 were only 38x38.

Your stock caliper is also a dual piston PRB caliper which measures 44.5mm x 44.5mm.
The stock 99-04 Calipers are actually really good, its the pad and rotor that hold them back a bit.

If you wanted to keep unsprung weight down then a good slotted 2pc rotor with great pads would do the trick. A lot of people like Hawk HP+ pads and Baer Eradispeed Plus two rotors.

Lets not forgot braided brake lines which eliminate brake line expansion improving response and pedal feel.

A high quality brake fluid is also just as important.

Its going to take a while till i get a good deal for those type of brake kit lol. Congratulations on those brakes . The car will be DD and racing. You do have a point on the brake line expansion. do you know of any good brake lines that would do the trick with a set of slotted rotors and good pads?

If they fit and are cheap they are good.

You can check places like American Muscle (We get 10% off) or SummitRacing and they will direct you to the part for your year, most places do that anyways.

Oh yeah, its a good idea to support your local business too.

We have a brake shop here that will make any BS lines that I want for $40 each, usually you pay $100+ online so checking with your local brake shops first is a great idea.

Yeah, they want your business badly.

The first thing the guys at Springfield Brake told me when I mentioned lines was "We will beat ANY online price you find!"

Its important to put out local lines for parts you need, granted not all can be done locally but if you can get by doing some your doing good.

Cobra brakes, or mach 1 / bullitt brakes, nobody who has posted in this thread so far has a need for anything more.
