Default 2000 Mustang questions

I have a 3.6L base model, and I suspect that the rear brakes need-a-changin.' I know someone who offered to change them for me free of charge if I just buy the brake pads. Even though I told him that my front set had been replaced in '09, he recommended (without looking at them) that I replace both sets.

Is that even necessary?

Should I swap out the old rotors in the back, too?

Will I need an alignment/wheel rotation afterwards?

What brand do users suggest? I have ProStop on the front wheels and haven't had any problems, other than a low humming noise during the break-in process.

How many miles do you have on the front pads? The should be fine unless you put a lot of miles on them.

Why would you need to get new rotors? Unless they are warped they should be fine.

Welcome to MF.

First off, lets correct you in your engine size, you have a 3.8L

I have had good luck with Duralast Gold ceramic pads but when they are wet they arent very good.

Most of your brakeing power comes from the front brakes and depending on your driving style and pad quality you may need new brakes in the front.

How much is this person wanting to charge for pads? What pads are they?

btw, I forgot to mention but good ol MotorCraft pads are very good too.

As for the alignment and rotation, its not a bad idea. Tires should be rotated as per the manufacturer specs and alignments if you can start seeing some uneven ware on the tires.
