I would go with Long Tube headers, High Flow cats, a quality X Pipe, and Flowmaster 40's. That should gain you the most HP. But remember the exhaust isn't going to gain you a ton.
I said yours sound great. I always believe in "to each, their own".

Typically the most restrictive part of the whole system is the muffler (large diameter built to suppress noise). So changing out the muffler with an aftermarket piece that is smaller and built for high flow/less restrictions will provide not only a gain in performance but can give a incredible sound as compared to stock. If your looking for the ultimate in performance and sound, then duals are the way to go.

You'll get around 25 hp for sure if you get longtube headers, which are better for the flow of exhaust, just saying, and x pipe with my personal favorite SLP's, but borla stingers also sound good and gives it a nice bass sound. I hope this helps.

I don't think your gaining 25whp on a 3.8 from a full exhaust, I think I'd put money on it. A GT is a different story

Personally I would not recommend a single muffler. You likely will not get the sound you want. Perofmance is always up to debate but a single muffler is either going to be too muffled compared to dual exhaust or be too piitchy like a ricer's fart canm

jegs.com search thrush chambered mufflers, get either 2.25 or 2.5 (depends what size piping you want) and make sure that they are offset/offset

call around shops near you asking for estimates on the setup you intend to run, so you get an idea.

for example for me

$73 thrush shipped from jegs
$300 2.5" piping catback divorced+3.5 SS slant cut tips. (parts and labor)
$373 total.

my cost is higher than a lot just because labor rapes in northern va 300 was the best deal by 200+ average estimate was 600-700 around me
