Cooling fan no want to work
Cooling fan doesnt want to kick on. Knowing the cooling problems Ive had with this car this is just another kick in the nuts.
I know there is a relay - is it in the fuse block under the hood? Is there a fuse that possible died? Location? Is the fan suppose to kick on when the "Max A/C" function is turned on? How often do the motors on the fan die? Other possible ideas? Right now the car will get to overheating mark within 5 minutes of driving....Im getting soooo freaken tired of heating issues with this car.... Thanks, Matthew |
the relay is part of the ccrm (constant control relay module) the fan should come on with the ac. unplug the fans electrical connector an use a test light to see if you are getting power and ground to the fan with the ac on. the fuse for the fan is a 60amp maxi fuse that is in the underhood fuse box. fan motors can burn out, but so can the ccrm

The fan in my 95' died at about 140k, I replaced the motor with a new one from Ford.
Its pretty easy, just remove the spring clip holding the fan blades to the motors shaft, swap onto the new motor. The way I tested my fan motor was to put direct power to it with the cars bat, nothing. I havnt ever had the relay die on me. |
And to add:
don't drive car with fans not working but I figure this should be obvious. |
btw, this might be a good time to think about upgrading to a 97-98 Cobra or Mark VIII fan.
Its something around 4500cfm on the LOW fan and 5000-5600 on high. There are different reports about the cfm. |
