ABS sensor removal

has anyone done this? im sure someone has. i got the bolt out and it still doesnt move. its a little bit rusty around the sensor but not too crazy, put some pb blaster on it. is there a trick im missing? the haynes manual says to take it to a shop lol. thanks in advance :)

Fink 06-13-2011 03:52 PM

grab a socket and tap it in with a hammer. But be careful, they are just plastic.

I did it the easy way. cut the sensors and threw them in the garbage.

Am I the only one that has had them just easily pull out after taking the bolt out, on TWO cars? LOL

The most trouble I ever had was with the bolt itself stripping the head, lol.

My guess, just keep doing what your doing with the PB Blaster and what Fink said.

thanks guys! theyre out. i thought of the socket idea but the damn dust shields were in the way so i had to resort to lots of pb blaster and starting out with a putty knife and working my way up to screw driver until it was out. what a pain for such a little part. oh and i took off the dust shields as soon as i took the sensors off, damn things wont get in my way ever again. thanks again guys :)

Fink 06-13-2011 06:24 PM

I dont have dust shields on my car at all.

glad you got them out.

Ok, it's been a while, but I'm having the same problem.
Once removed, what are you guys doing with them? Ditching them?
No ABS?

BabyGT 11-14-2012 09:24 PM

You will have a check engine light of you ditch them. They are most likely just cleaning them, or replacing them.
