Exclamation HELP! 00 3.8L 5 high idle, starting issue, smoke?

When i try to start the car, the first try it will not fire. It does cranck but will not fire. The second time it usually works. Sometimes i press on the gas lightly and that will help it on the second try. Also it seems to idle a little high, for EX: pushed in the clutch and it remained at about 1.5 - 2k RPMS. Also one of the biggest problems...When the car does smoke. 3 out of 4 times it will smoke for about 5 seconds and then stop. Its pretty heavy smoke, it is White not black, but cannot tell if it has a bluish tint to it or not. The battery, Alt, and starter have been checked and are fine. Any ideas?

I could be wrong but to me it still sounds like a head gasket issue, or it could be the valve seals are worn and leaking oil.

How long does your car have a high idle? 30 seconds, 1 minute, or longer?

White smoke definitely means you're burning oil, just need to find out from where.

The last car I had that had your kind of issues (smoke, higher idle, no power), was a combination of a bad head gasket and a failing MAF sensor.

fixed the smoke, there was no PCV valve. Easy fix. I think it was sucking oil through and getting into the intake?
