Default Clutch Chatter

I am getting clutch chatter only when I idle, it goes away when I barely touch the clutch, could my cable be worn out? I took off the dust plate and it seemed like the clutch was rubbing the pressure plate. Should I go ahead and try replacing the cable? It is only $35 from Advance Auto. Oh its a 2001 v6.

I talked to a buddy and he said it sounds like the clutch cable has stretched, The cable has 190,000 miles on it. Good chance of it being the cable right?

I also tried the "Self adjusting Clutch" where you lift the clutch pedal up, didn't help at all.

Sounds like a TOB issue to me.

When is the last time the clutch was replaced, was the Throw Out Bearing replaced too and what brand was used?

Uhm, to be honest, I think i still have the stock clutch in the car. But I am almost positive the cable is stretched out, i got out there messing with it this morning, and there is ALOT of slack in the cable. I know no other way of adjusting the cable besides the self adjusting thing. I go into gears and everything fine, and i shift smooth. It is just at idle - ~2000 rpms, i am getting the chatter. I am gonna get a video and post it to youtube with a link for you guys, any help would be greatly appreciated.

i have the same thing kind of, it squeaks and chatters but doesnt make the noise outside I dont think. When i put my foot on the pedal it stops too. Is my pedal just loose or do I have the same thing as you?

Again, sounds like a TOB issue.

Here is a vid that has the same noise and it turned out to be his TOB.

GREAT News, but also bad news. took it to another buddy of mines shop today, got it lifted up, the sound was the clutch fork tapping my dust plate. BAD news. he said i am looking at maybe 15k more miles out of my clutch. GRACIOUS :P
