Hi everyone,

I just bought a 2001 Mustang convertible yesterday. It's a nice car with a new top. When I unlatch the top I press the button and the top goes down automatically. When I press the button for it to go up, I hear the motor but no movement. I pulled the top up half way and then the motor moved it the rest of the way. Is it supposed to pull it up all of the way? Or was I supposed to do part of it manually? If it was supposed to do it on it's own, any suggestions on what I need to look at for this issue?

As far as I know, the top is supposed to go up and down completely by itself without you having to pull on it. Perhaps it's a weak motor? I know it doesn't take a whole lot of effort to pull the top down, but to push it back up is a lot harder on the motor. A replacement runs in the area of $220 or so (plus install if you don't know how or don't want to).

Thanks for the info. I did find another thread where they had the same problem and the liquid was low in the hydrolics. I'm going to check that this weekend.

Another good idea, didn't think of that. Hopefully it's that and not the motor, much cheaper that way!
