Here's the deal. I'm coming to the end of line with this dumb old 2000 radio. The 2000 model involves "unlocking" the radio via the four pin holes in the corners of the radio. I only want to remove the top (of two) stereo pieces to slide the radio out, attach an FM adapter for my SiriusXM, and slide the radio back in to keep using it. Sounds simple but it isn't. I saw online that you could use 4 small screwdrivers to insert into the pin holes and remove it that way, but that didn't work. I bought some actual Ford removal keys and tried using those, with still no luck. After all of this effort the radio is still in the car, and the plastic near the pin holes is beginning to crack. I really don't want to buy a new radio just to attach an FM adapter, but if this keeps up I feel like I'm going to have to remove it force, destroying it.

Any ideas as to why it won't budge, or how to effectively get that dang thing out?

The removal pins should only be inserted a set distance before it locks the radio pins back in place. Do one side (top and bottom slots), then move onto the next side, being careful not to move the 1st side too far out (The angle tends to lock the 2nd side in as well).

Don't worry, you are not alone in your frustration here. In fact, once I took the CD player and radio out, I ripped the clips off all of them and they just sit in there unattached now.
