01 v6 mustang hp gains

i was just wondering if anyone new how much hp i could gain from changing my single exhuast to a dual. and if magnaflows or flowmasters would be better. also was wondering if my 3.8l could handle 4.10 rear gears. and any other bolt ons you guys could give me would be great. i just want more power but dont have the money for a v8 or huge changes. thanks

I have true duals and i love them, sounds pretty good too, i can get you an exhaust clip in the morning if youd like, however i didn't have the car before the exhaust was put on

Franchi 01-30-2012 07:29 AM

It will change the sound and add a little bit of power but won't really be noticable driving. Maybe 5 horses or so. Far as which is better, it all depends on what sound you like and your budget.

I just ordered my new mac catbacks and an x pipe from mandrelexhaust to replace my crappy old one and I can't WAIT to hear them for myself!!!!!!

Franchi 01-30-2012 10:07 AM

Here's what my 04 V6 sounds like with a Mac offroad H pipe to Mac catback to give a comparison.

I like yours Franchi

Franchi 01-30-2012 10:15 AM

It actually came out better then I thought it would. Idle, startup and up to 3.5k rpms sound good. 3.5 to 4k gets a little fart cannony for me but I don't often hit those rpm's just going to work and back and around town.

Had I thought about it, I would have welded in a couple resonators at the time which would have eliminated that but all in all, I was very happy with it.

Jeff Ball 01-30-2012 10:26 AM

ill go do an exhaust clip, but im only one person and have no help available atm so wish me luck :P

Jeff Ball 01-30-2012 10:37 AM

Alright its done, not that great of sound quality coming from a cell phone but you can hear it. I got my phone to stay up by wedging it in a shoe :P

Franchi 01-30-2012 10:48 AM

Inventiveness at it's best! lol That works...

jthorn9 01-30-2012 10:50 AM

It varies wildly depending on the setup, but on average look for a 4-7 rwhp gain.

Jeff Ball 01-30-2012 10:51 AM

Ugh, im gonna have to upload it from my laptop, my phone keeps kicking itself out of the youtube upload for somereason

mjlunsford 01-30-2012 02:20 PM

thanks guys. would a 3.8l engine handle 4.10 gears in the back ok? do you no?

Crysta06 02-01-2012 03:28 PM

honestly, i wouldnt put gears on a v6. yea you will get up to speed faster but it will cut down your max speed a good bit.

jthorn9 02-02-2012 07:18 AM

Your max speed will not see much effect and who cares, the fastest you should legally drive is 70 mph. Most tires aren't even rated to go much over 100 and the V6 is speed limited to 112 mph anyways.

mjlunsford 02-02-2012 08:23 PM

so would it be able to handle it or no?

Jeff Ball 02-02-2012 09:04 PM

Handle, yes...it can handle any gears you throw at it, your transmission on the other hand depends on how you shift

mjlunsford 02-03-2012 05:59 PM

alright. what turbo wise. if i could even get the money. is it worth it? and where can i get a good one for a good price? because id like to get a turbo but i dont no much about them besides its just forcing air right into the manifold.

mustangman02232 02-03-2012 11:20 PM

If you do a turbo then wait on the exhaust, I had long tubes high flow catted H and a 2.5" cat back, did a full tune up, and a used cai and I knocked over a second off my quarter mile time and added almost 4 mph to my trap speed. My manifolds were junk so rather the. Replace them I did the lts tho, most bolt on cars really don't need Long tubes.

Thanks.

I can not view youtube vids at work. Didn't realize he said it was his 04 V6. Just seen his info being an s197. Thought it was a 4.0 vid.

Sorry.
