Borlas are a top of the line brand. Remove the cats on the car and it'll get a much better tone but as stated no matter what exhaust you get it's gonna sound like a v6.

Best way to make those Borlas sound amazing is to put in a mild cam. Yes it'll cost around $2000 for all the parts but the finished product will yield you around 40 rwhp and a much better tone.

I did the same thing you mentioned, hope this audio file/video helps define the sound of a 3.8L V6:
Ceramic MAC Longtube Headers, SW Hi-Flow Cats, Stainless Steel ProChamber, Flowmaster 10 Series Mufflers-

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE RESULTS??

Some high revving exhaust tones, followed by a drive away, so let me know if it's what you are expecting or not. I love it. But it's never everybodies cup 'o tea!!

P.S.: I Want To Replace The Flowmasters With BORLA XR1 MultiCore Mufflers (NOT THE SPORTSMAN!)
Have you checked out the Borla XR1 MultiCore mufflers? I contacted Borla yesterday, trying to work out a deal price wise.

This picture shows what the true XR1 Multicore looks like.
Same down here, from Borla's web site>

Let me know what you think of the new exhaust I put on when you get the chance

flow 40s
+
long tubes
+
no mid pipe
+
2 cats

= best possible sound (opinion) you will get with a v6 mustang. Throw in a cam and it will idle louder than most gt's and pulling up to places most people won't even notice the difference.
