i need help flushing my power steering pump

If you can afford it, get a "BG Fush" Ask the shop if they have a BG machine to do it. If not, find a place does have a BG flush machine system. Most service shops all have them and most dealerships now use BG flush machines. Flushing with Mobil1 automatic transmission fluid might be a little costly but do some research, call your Mustang shop and reiterate to them what I told you. 2nd, 3rd, 4th opinions are always great. -Good luck & update this thread please.
Oh, and BG machines suck *****. Wynns all the way.

Not sure how I'm disturbed, but OK.
And if you think being swindled into buying these "power steering flushes" and only using Mobil 1 sythentic ATF in your relatively stock street cars is funny, then more power to ya. Usually I'm mad when I waste a bunch of time and money on bull****.

You can flush it easily and properly at home. I have done it. Fluid stayed red for 6,000 miles and the whining from the pump stopped completely, until the car got totalled.
There are a couple good write ups on here with pics.
I do agree there is no reason to pay a shop $100 or so to flush, or the readiator for that fact, It can be done ust as easily.

ATF will stay red for a while. PS fluid gets discolored very quickly. Even brand new vehicles with less than 10 miles on them have brownish colored fluid. If you constantly want clean looking PS fluid you'd have to flush it every time you drive the car.
Even newer ATF (Dexron VI for example) is designed to turn brown after so many thousand miles. The only way to tell if there's something going on inside the tranny that's burning the fluid or if it's worn out it by smell. The only time color is an indicator of anything is if it's completely black, and even then you'll usually smell it as you pull the dipstick out before you even get a good look at it.
