Default whole new car...?

Hello,
I have an '03 v6 5 speed mustang. I found a 94 roller that runs, it has a 5.0 in it.
What all would it take for me to put the drivetrain of the 94 into the 03? any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris

A few things.
1st and formost, it won't be street legal in the US after doing so, which also means your insurance won't be valid either. You can only legally swap in the same year or newer. It will also not be OBD II compliant.

2nd: That old worn out 5.0L doens't make much more power than your current 3.8L. Any time/money you want to invest would be better spent elsewhere.

Those things out of the way, drop the whole front K member out with the motor, since you'll need it all. Also want the trans, drive shaft and rear end. After that, you'll want the ECU, engine bay wire harness, under dash wire harness and the dash (intrusment) cluster. After switching the ECU, you're going to have to address the whole PATS mess (so your keys will start the car).

After all that, you've scooped up less than 25 hp.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand why the swap wouldn't be street legal? I've known lots of people that swapped v8's into cars that the years didn't match up on. You're definitely right on the hp not being worth that much work. Is it because of the obdII?

As far as Insurance is concerned, Crance could try talking to them about it. (I did when I had alstate and an 89 lx that I did a 5.0 swap on. They told me they would just have to inspect the car and upraise it based on what was done to the car in order to cover it. It may be different in each state.

In the US, when OBD II became the standard, any car that came that way must stay that way for emissions purposed. It's also illegal (in the US) to swap an older motor into a newer car for similar federal laws.
Sure people do it, but it doesn't make it legal. Lately, LEOs and insurance companies are cracking down on those swaps. I've seen several people not covered in accidents because of illegal mods/swaps, and have seen a couple of policies canceled for the same reasons.

Because of the legality of it, many insurance companies will not insure them.

If you swap in a stock 5.0 id slap you thats the perfect time to be swapping heads, cam, intakes, etc etc !!!

and I dont understand some people ... granted that is a small hp gain ... but you also get a completely different power band and much better tq output ...

Too many things that need to be converted. I've said this 20,000,000 tims and I'll say it again.

Sell your V6 and buy a car with the motor you want in it. The swap will cost more to do that your car is probably worth.

The 95 and back 5.0s have ZERO!!! In common with 96+ Mustangs.

Want a 5.0, I'll sell you mine. $6000 and it's yours!!!

I've been corrected lol. I agree with jthorn9. The work rarely pays off and these v6's are capable of quite a bit. If you have to have a v8 you would be better off getting a car with one in it.
