1999 v6 swap with .302 possible?
Ok, Got a 99 base model with the auto v6.. I plan on restoring my mustang from ground up.. I wanna buy a 302 and put it in it but i dont want to get to working on it and here find out i bought a crate motor that doesnt fit and im just wanting, a experienced reliable response to help me out with my decision letting me know if i would have to do modifications to make it fit, and this restoration project is with my grandfather.. he loves mustangs and i know very little about cars so i dont want to question him about the problem i want to find out on here so i dont spoil the suprise because he has no clue i bought a mustang to restore it with him... thanks and god bless.

5.0s are not directly compatable with 96+ Mustangs. You would need a donor car (94/95 GT/Cobra) to do the swap and the car would not be smog/emissions legal. Put a 4V in the car if you really want a project and even then that will run you around $10,000.

I say this all the time, but I guess I'll repeat myself AGAIN. 4v swap or BUST, it's just not worth it for the older technology, I'm not saying a 302 can't be fast, but the gains(little to no gain) and knuckle bustin' outweighs the payoff. If it's a track car ONLY, strip it down and slap a nice 302 or windsor in and go carbed, but that isn't very practical either.
