Default X-Pipe or H-Pipe Adapter? Please Help

Ok so I have a 2001 V6 and im looking to upgrade my exhaust. I don't know if I should just stay with the stock headers and mid pipe and add an H-Pipe adapter then a cat back exhaust. Or should I run long tube headers with an X-Pipe then the cat back exhaust. I know the H-Pipe adds power but I also heard that the long tube headers add power. Please give your opinions and if you have an exhaust let me know your set up! Thanks

I would recommend going for a full exhaust upgrade. MAC long tube headers, midpipe (MAC shorty h-pipe i would recommend), and a catback that fits a 99-04 GT. You may want to add cats to the list and get a shop to weld them into the h-pipe. I was dumb and had a shop custom fab up an h-pipe and connect a flowmaster y-pipe style cat back (cut the y out). Ended up with an exhaust that was all one piece. Im upgrading to longtubes now and I now have to replace my whole exhaust (due to some clearance issues with my upgraded suspension and being that it was one piece). I learned the hard way so take my advice and just do the full exhaust at one time instead of doing some now and some later down the road. It will only cost you extra money in some way.

MAC all the way. Be aware that longtubes hang low and will drag on just about anything. I have to be wary of potholes even hehe. And i HATE speed bumps.

MAC ProChamber "H" pipe!!
Just got me some MAC ceramic long tubes and a MAC Prochamber put on. Incredible deep exhaust tone. Dyno tuned it and gained 5-10HP through entire RPM range.

If I get the long tube headers that fit a V6 can I use an H-Pipe made for a GT? If someone could leave lings to suggested products that would be great. Thanks

Well not sure about the h pipe for the gt, but i do know that when you get the lt's for your v6, they recommend using shorty mid pipes. Here is links

an h-pipe from a gt will need to me modified to fit, it will be a bit too long.

robb, is the pro chamber the same length as the shorty h-pipe?

H-pipe for sound X pipe for performance. Although H-pipe does provide a performance boost, the X-pipe has had better performance reviews from the research that I have done. I know the Mac long tubes add a better sound and a performance boost as well, but if you wanted to stay short, you might as well use stock because they flow decent. If I am not mistaken the long tubes end up cutting out one set of the cats. If you live in an emission zone, that may be problem. A lot of NC is pretty hard on emissions and will fail you if the equipment is not up to par or has been removed, even if you pass the test.

The GT shorty mid-pipe should line right up and bolt together. You'll notice the MAC part #'s the same (94-04). A quick phone call to MAC can clarify any questions. Some guy named Manny handles V6 Mustang parts. My MAC Prochamber was the same length as the shorty "H" pipe, yes. Still had some welding done to position the cats up off the ground.
