First to install??

I just got through installing a hurst pro-matic 2 in my car. Yes I realize there is the b&m unit and it's bolt in but I really don't like the look of it. I searched my butt off trying to find a write up to see if this install was possible but came up with nothing, yes or no. So I said screw it and went for it.

Here's some pics, I'll get into detail tomorrow I'm tired lol.

So am I thirst first to pioneer this shifter on our forum? Or period for that matter?

Looks good, how well does it work?

Thats the first that I have seen on an auto.

I like hurst a lot, they have a TON of T5 solutions and its nice to see some auto options too.

April is running an angled Hurst 10" shifter on her T5 in her 68' Mustang.

Works great, even using the stock transmission lever, I had to make a bushing for the cable linkage that came with the shifter to fit on the lever though, the hole on the stock lever is a lot bigger. Hardest part was making the bushing. Other that that it bolted right in.
I had to drill 3 holes, 2 for the shifter assemble and one for the cable to run through. Some of the stock shifter holes lined up great.

Okay, gettin to the install lol

First and biggest issue is the transmission lever. It's already the perfect length and the right direction. Problem is the hole is way to big for the connector for the new shift cable.

Didn't take a pic of the hole on the other lever but if your at this point you have a shifter kit to look at already.

My solution was to make a bushing and use a series of washers.

The skinny washer in the middle is the new (homemade) bushing. The one up top is what will go between the lever and the cable, the one on bottom on the transmission side of the lever. Also you will need the bracket and lever kit from b&m for the aod-e. part number is in pic above.

Here's a pic of the setup on the lever

http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n...1/89720d6b.jpg the rest is up to you, and is in the instructions for the kit, I just wanted to cover what was needed to make it work for our transmissions.

Forgot this pic, I'm just gonna put a fabric shift boot around it, I'm sure if your good with fiberglass you could make something nice though.

That looks sweet!

Email Redlinegoods.com about making you a nice shift boot for that!

If i may ask; what díd you do for the overdrive on/off botton?

BabyGT 08-13-2012 07:07 AM

Look in that last pic on the opposite side of te shifter from the power port there is a small square toggle switch.
