Default 95 3.8l key fob loses programming

So when I bought the car it didn't come with a remote or keys to the door. It came with just the ignition and trunk key. Which are the same of corse.

So I bought a fob online. It's older and seems better days but it worked. I was able to program it no problem and it worked fine. Until I redid the water pump.

The power was undone for maybe a week on it. Then I drove the car home and noticed it didn't work. I reprogrammed the remote and carried on with. My biz. Well today, it lost its programming again. If I reprogram it, then maybe an hour later, nothing. I reprogram it and it's fine and then later, it fails.

Problem is, no keys for the doors. It gets locked and the remote stops working, I'm screwed.

Anyone know a place I can get new door locks for this thing? That would solve half the problems

You could have a lock smith cut you a key for the doors. Way simpler than changing the locks lol

Most lock smiths can make a key for you without having to take the lock out. I locked my keys in a work truck once and the smith came out and had some kinda feeler tools he poked in the lock and sat there and cut a key to use to unlock the door.

I have learned how to pick locks with a regular set, but thats only padlocks, not car doors. Not to mention I am a felon so having a pick set isn't good for me.

And wouldn't you know it. My mobile locksmith is out of town til the 24th....ugh.

I called around and there isn't a single person other then the guy outta town, that can do this stuff. The only other place told me i'd need to remove the lock from the cardoor for them to do it.

Why would it have a separate door lock key? One key does it all. Also it could be the old fob's batteries.

The ignition key does not match the doors....it matches the trunk but not the doors.....

And I think the keyfob issue could be a ground. It works fine as long as the car sits, but if I drive it, hit a few bumps, its game over. Has to be programmed again,
