Build up 3.8
#11
Largest kit I've seen is the 4.3L kit. Which even that I havn't seen much of. I'm assuming it might be because the larger strokes, just like with the 5.0s, have a problem with the rings over time. But then again I'm just guessing.

[QUOTE=jthorn9;8084224]It's a bad enough swap. Having owned a 302 and a 3.8L they aren't similar at all. The swap is extremely complicated because very little is similar on the 3.8L to the 5.0L. The 94/95 5.0 (which is what you would have to swap to) is a very unique setup, even in 5.0 terms. While the basic motor swap isn't hard, its the wiring harness and electronics that gets people.
I totally agree the wiring for this swap would be extremely complicated!

Why is everyone always overlooking the potential of just spending the money on building the 3.8? Maybe add some intense Nitro afterwards? I mean, you could spend the money on a swap first and then wait until you can afford to sink another few grand building that, but the truth is you already have a pretty decent starting point under your hood. If you want more displacement specifically GET A V EFFING 8

They have the stroker kit that you are looking for. They even have various components broken down into seperate kits so you can replace the heads and then replace the cam, rods and pistons later if cost is an issue.
Beyond that SSM and Morana make stroker engines that'll beat the new 3.7L and have forged internals for boosting. As long as you can drop 7.5-8k on it.

Then you're building your 3.8 and getting more displacement and (IMO) having more fun with it

A lot of people look at building the 3.8 to a 4.2L because the 4.6 is a piece of **** as far as V8s go until you've put more than enough money into it to have built the 3.8 to a 4.2L times over(This can be done cheaply due to the windstar and F-150 motors that share the same block, if your goals aren't in the 600+ horsepower range). Plus then you have something a little more unique with 500+ hp anyways. I'd be less critical of this point of view if you were looking at a 3.7L to 5.0 coyote swap because the new 5.0 is a thing of beauty.

A 5k 4.2 swap is going to be making a lot more than 215 RWHP. You'll be in the ~290 range.
A 8k stroker gets you 320+ NA. If you put 20k into the car which gets you into the range of the 3.7's total price though, you can have it turbo'd to ~500 RWHP(plus suspension and all sorts of extra goodies that will be better than the new car) and smoke the new GT's. By a fair margin because you're so much lighter
500 is a fairly easily achieved figure btw. You can pick up an entire cobra fuel system, injectors to tank, fairly cheap(less than $500 some cases). Brakes for another $1400. Suspension $1500(or 5k if you're like me and go with a very-built IRS), engine for 7500-8k, MAF etc and used turbo for around another 3k... and you've got ~4-5k left over for various other oddities and labour before you reach your 20k.
The figure on how much lighter is ~4-600 lbs, which is enough to make your 500 horse equivalent to ~600 horse on the GT, which only actually has 420.
The ability to smoke a 2013 GT in a 2003 V6 is almost priceless however.
