2004 3.9L V6 Oil leak from hex part
#11
I got psycho with the oil filter because that is so stuck in the adapter and I don't have the proper tool to remove it. Stabbed it with a screw driver and the thing just disintegrated, it's one of those cheap Fram filters.
can't remove the bolts easily with that filter in place.

How hard was it to get that plug out? I have attempted it and it seems very well stuck in there. Also what is the hex key size for that plug and the o-ring size for it that I will need to do this? I have had this leak for months now and it just keeps getting worse and worse and this car is my daily driver and the oil is getting very expensive.

How to do it?
to answer my question, I went to a junkyard and tried pulling out the oil pump. it's a very straightforward process, just remove the oil filter and take out the 6 bolts (4 #10 and 2 #8) the plug has a rubber/plastic gasket/o-ring that turned very hard. It probably shrinked and caused the leak. In my case there's really no need to replace the oil pump, just take our the plug and replace with new o-ring and coat it in teflon.

not that hard, the oil filter must be removed. I just used teflon and gasket maker (permatex black) to seal it. I think it's a #8 hex head socket.
