Question Oil leak

Can someone tell what the sensor is, located on the drives side of the engine, in a small opening behind the power steering pump? It is leaking oil and I want to change it. Also, what is the best way to get to it?

Thanks

Is it on the valve cover?? If so thats your driver side p.c.v which in your model year there is a defect in the the valve cover ( either it has a crappy baffle or doesn't have one at all i can't remember) so in stead of just oil vapor being sucked through it you'll suck up some oil as well. You can do a bunch of things starting with getting a set of valve covers from an 03/04 and changing the valve or you can replace the valve and install a catch can.

On my wifey's '98, the wholes in both the valve covers are for the PCV system. The whole in the driver side valve cover is where filtered air gets sucked into the motor. So it can't suck any oil. The whole in the passenger side valve cover is the one with the PCV valve in it and is the one that has vacuum that sucks air from inside the motor into the upper intake manifold. It is that one that commonly sucks oil.

So if your problem is the whole in the drivers side valve cover, then you probably just need a new rubber grommet if the tube is not cracked or damaged. rockauto.com sells replacement grommets. Good luck...

Default Oil leak.

Thanks for the replies. No it is not in the valve cover it is down in the block right behind the bracket that supports the power steering pump.

Does it crew into the block? If so it might be the oil pressure sensor. But without a better description it is hard to say. A picture would speak 1000 words.
