Default underdrive pulleys

been considering these off and on for a while. was wondering about a couple things

1. is it true that since they draw away so much power, they can make your alternator, headlights, and etc not perform well?

2. i hear they increase MPG and some power, will i get any noticeable acceleration?

3. if i order these 2 things, will i be all set to go to the shop and have them pop em in?

From what I have read not really worth the money on a v6, bang for buck wise anyways. You will be disappointed having spent that much on that small of a boost. On top of paying to have it install as well. If you do get them, if you can change the serpentine belt on your own you can install pulleys just as easy.

1.) They do not draw away power. They simply reduce rotating mass by under driving the external accessories to increase power, or so they claim.

2.) They will lightly, and I mean EXTREMELY LIGHTLY improve MPG, but in shot the gain will be next to non existent.

3.) You can install them yourself or pay a shop $60-100 to install them. By no means a hard install.

Now stuff you should know, under drive pulleys free up very, very little hp. I've seen dynos that showed absolutely ZERO gains, and others that showed only 5 rwhp. So in general it really depends on the dyno and the settings it's programmed to. So with that said, really expect this mod to be more of a paper weight than any thing.

Will you notice the headlights dim or charging issues. It's very unlikely as the U/D kits come with a different sized alternator pulley that over charges the alternator. However these issues can occur if you're running subs and do not have a very sound ground. In short, make sure you have AMAZING grounds.

In short it's a mod that sounds cool, but a lot of us have learned they're largely another $100 scam part. They do function, per say, but not very well in my opinion. Your money can be much better spent elsewhere.

I believe the only advantage underdrive pullies have is that they are smaller in diameter and usually lighter than the stock pullies. This lessens and draws the rotating mass in closer to the center of the crank, which allows for a quicker reving engine, similar to the reason for lightweight flywheel and aluminum driveshaft.

Underdrive pulley's are one of those platform that just add a little additional power and acceleration over stock! I put them on my 2004 Mach 1 and definitely noticed a small gain in power and acceleration. I would definitely do them again!

I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions or need some assistance in the near future.
