Question Need help with camshaft synchro position!

OK. So here's the deal. I have a 3.8L V6 1997 stang that I love dearly. I noticed last week that upon acceleration, my car started bucking and occasionally backfiring. I ran the codes and a couple codes for camshaft positioning sensor came up. I bought the sensor with the synchronizer because I also noticed a new squeaking sound so I just figured I'd kill two birds with one stone and replace both the sensor & the synchro. I purchased the sensor & the synchro along with the special alignment tool. I made sure that cylinder #1 was at TDC however I made the HUGE mistake of forgetting to mark exactly where the old synchronizer was positioned before I yanked it out. Now, I'm stuck trying to figure out which position the synchro needs to be placed in once in TDC. I know better than this and was in a rush which is a big no-no when working on a car, so no need to lecture me. I've learned my lesson the hard way. If anyone could help me figure this out, I'd be most appreciative. I REALLY don't want to have to take it to someone else that will charge me a crapload for a simple fix. Thanks guys!
