Suggestions for a tune up
So, sitting in the parking lot this evening, I glanced along my dash and caught my odometer right at 215,000.0 miles. It got me thinking that I need to do a little preventative / summer maintenance on my ride.
My main reason for posting this would be to ask what I should look for going bad with this many miles. The car is an 03 with the original automatic. I became the second owner last year @ about 195k miles. The previous owner didn't really do much besides change the oil and replace parts when they went out. It doesn't tick or smoke or anything right now
I'm active duty military, so I frequent a 1000+ mile round trip on long weekends between Florida and North Carolina. Should I start to look into replacing parts before they go bad? Timing maybe? Would you guys recommend any sort of engine treatment? Rear end oil? I've got the simple stuff covered like plugs and filters, I'm trying to think a little more internal. Or should I just keep the simple stuff done and drive it until something does go out? Sorry for the rambling, insomnia is getting the better of me this evening. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks all!

Drain the tran fluid, replace the filter, and that should fix it. I had the same problem with mine, and that's what it was, my fluid was black, and it shouldn't even be brown. Also may be worth replacing the gear oil and putting new gaskets on it all.
