HELP!!! Where to get 4R70W extension housing bushing?
The extension housing bushing on my wifey’s 3.8L mustang (with 4R70W auto tranny) is pretty much shot. I took the extension housing off today to replace a leaky gasket and noticed that the oil grooves in the extension housing bushing are almost smooth. Not good... So I went to Autozone and they gave me a Timken bushing & seal kit (part # 5202). Cool. But when I got home the bushing & seal are both too small. The bushing has an inner diameter of 1.48”. The part of the driveshaft that is supposed to go into the bushing is 1.58” in diameter.
I called up a few auto parts stores and they all have the same bushing/seal kit. The dealer was no help since they don’t sell the bushing alone. They only sell the extension housing case & bushing as an assembly for $120. Highway robbery!!!
I’ve searched around and find a bunch of threads on various forums about people replacing this bushing, but I can’t find any that recommend where to buy one. So does anyone know where to buy this bushing for a 4R70W auto-tranny?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give...

Thanks for all the responses…
To close the loop, a couple days after posting this thread, I contacted a local transmission shop and they ordered the correct bushing for me. Called at 8am, they had it for me at noon. Had the seal in stock too. Cost me $20 for the bushing + seal. Both fit perfectly. Everything is all buttoned up and the car is back on the road.
