Hi all,

Ok so I want to go ahead and make my own oil catch can for my 2000 V6 and I got some really good instructions on HOW to build what I need from here in the 4.6L section - https://mustangforums.com/forum/svt-...catch-can.html - but for the LIFE OF ME I cant seem to find any info as to WHAT SIDE the catch can hooks up to on the V6?!

I know there are spots on BOTH sides of the motor. 1 is the actual PCV valve (front drivers side) and there is a plug of sorts on the rear passenger side so... based on the instructions from the link above, what side do I hook this up to on my V6, DRIVERS or PASSENGER and if its the Drivers side then what do I use to replace the actual PCV valve as there is no mention of replacing it in the instructions.

Anyone? I swear Ive looked all over the site and google for a simple explanation on this but I just CANNOT find the info on which side (BOTH even maybe) the catch can is supposed to hook up to...

Just out of curiosity...whats the point of doing this?

The 99 and 2000 models had bad valve covers that allowed too much oil blowby into the intake causing a lot of gunking up and stuff. The best way to fix this is to replace the valve covers with pre 99 model ones OR 01+ modle ones but I cant find any here where I live so an oil catch can is the next best thing...

Passenger side, that's where the PCV is. And yes I bought my parts from Lowes "Motorsports" lol

The PCV stays in place, your basically adding a filter between the PCV and in the intake.

Thanks babygt... You mean the "Drivers side" (valve cover to Plenum) then dont you?

And so the top of the intake there is the plenum and then you run the hose and filter to the PCV valve on our cars?

Did you read the write up I posted the link for? Are the parts the same size wise, etc??

Look at your upper manifold where my braided line connects. Pull that plastic tube out of the rubber grommet, trim the tube so a bit of it sticks out of the grommet when you push it back it, this will have your new line clamped to it, run the new line to the "catch can", pull the other end of the line off of the PCV, now connect a new line from the PCV to the other side of the "catch can". Make sure you have the catch can oriented so the vapor from the valve cover goes into the canister of the can before it exits through the filter in the can.

I used a bit more expensive parts for mine than in that list but basically the same thing. I was worried that the under hood temps would be a bit much for something not designed for an engine bay so I bought a metal and glass moisture seperator.

Look at my arrows, make sure the seperator is oriented so the arrows or direction it tells you follow the same direction I've drawn.
