Default 2000 v6 coupe manual

Hey guys, Im new to the mustang world but im big on cars. I recently moved to LA from Jamaica and i do automotive photography and i am a mechanic. Mustangs have been a car i admired especially Elinor, i even owned a 72 (though it never left the garage) back in Jamaica.

I bought a 2000 V6,yes i have read that they are not respected, for a very good price and it is in immaculate condition. The thing is i do not want a V6, mainly because i like to do things that people say cant be done. This car will be my project i plan on doing some major mods and i am hoping i can get some information along the way. Ill be posting vids and pics as i do work on it as well.
Trying to see how much of a weekend circuit racer/drifter i can make out of this thing and possibly help out some other V6 owners that dont wanna just drop in a V8.
Thanks
John

Yeah they were not know for power during that time but who cares really. I think it would be a fun project to see how much you could milk out of a 2000 v6. I have a respect for all cars personally. If someones into making a Saturn into a drag car then hey its your thing :P

Post some pictures when you got a chance would love to see it!

That's a rough one , the 3.8l v6 engine doesn't have much in the way of aftermarket performance parts.

How ever there are a lot of the sixers out there that have done the ford windstar intake upgrade to add a bit of power to the 3.8l mustang, 99-04 IIRC.
The windstar had a better flowing intake and was a lot lighter . Short of adding a turbo I think its the way to go on the 3.8l engine. A better set of rear gears always helps get better use of the available hp already there as well.

If you are dead set on adding serious power to a v6, you gotta get boost (but even then its not the fastest, check out some turboed/supercharged v6 vids on youtube, not very impressive unfortunately)

however with the cost and etc, it would be cheaper to get a GT, but if you really want a v6 and money is not an issue, then get boost.

Be prepared to spend A LOT, as in much much more than the car is worth to make any real power out of the car.

Go with a cam and port n polish for the best naturally aspirated engine hp.

You have to have the mount kit to mount the rear cobra calipers. Cobra brake systems use different rear mounts than stock. The front "should" be good.

Thanks guys, i researched and found out that there was a small difference between rotors on the back of the v6 and the svt so ill stay with the v6 setup and used vented and slotted rotors and better pads.

does anyone know where i can get the windstar intake?
