Default HUGE Throttle lag

2003 V6 Mustang 5spd 120k miles

I just got this car. I noticed that there is a major lag in responsiveness. Is this normal? Is there a correction? There is at least a 1 second delay. This affects shifting severely. When I let the clutch out and press the gas the car wants to stop because there is no power being applied yet even though my foot is on the throttle. Finally, one second later, the rpm start to climb. It's horrible. I can make a video if my problem is not clear.

Thank you.

Hey,

I'm sorry to hear about this issue, I can only imagine how tough it is trying not to stall out when driving.

There could be several problems here, but the most likely is just a build up in the throttle body components. The main culprit is probably the idle control valve. Certainly try taking this off and cleaning it out. While you are in their it also helps to clean the butterfly and inside of the throttle body out as well.

I would bet this most likely cures your problem. I hope this helps, and if you have any other questions feel free to ask myself or contact our customer service team at the number below my signature. Good luck!
