BBK HEADERS VS JBA HEADERS shorty??

Debating on bbk or jba for my 3.8l v6 stang? does BBK headers 50 state legal and have a carb # cause California has that wack emission law

PNYXPRESS 03-04-2014 06:37 AM

Neither, get LTs or stock 94-98

your in California so smog will not allow the long tubes. bbk & jba both good alternatives go with what looks best machined for the money.

Hey,

You certainly have some good options on the table for your v6. Either one of the two will be a great improvement over your stock manifolds.

I personally would recommend the BBK headers, especially if you are going with the ceramic coated option. The ceramic finish helps out in several fashions. It will keep it's look over time and with minimal TLC they will not rust or discolor. They will also dissipate heat better containing it to the header and forcing it out the tailpipe rather than the engine bay. This will translate into higher power numbers and lower under hood temperatures.

The JBA is a still a quality header but without this ceramic finish you will need to wrap the headers in heat wrap to prevent the heat from the engine from overheating the starter. Also, the JBA will rust over time no matter how much attention you give toward cleaning them up. Finally the horsepower pick ups will not be quite as high as they could be with the BBK, and the price certainly does not warrant these less features.

Keep in mind if you do want to get either of these, we offer a 6% discount for our forum members. I hope this helps, and if you have any other questions, please reach out to myself, or contact our customer service team listed below my signature.

should i buy heat wraps to for bbk headers and also is there a carb # on the headers cause im from California

PNYXPRESS 03-05-2014 08:47 AM

Heat wrap on a street car CAN be a death sentence for headers. While it does keep the heat from dissipating to the engine bay, it also keeps in moisture that will rot your exhaust. Just be aware of the environmental conditions and climate of your area.

As stated, shorties are a waste, why you ask, because your car came factory with headers, not traditional manifolds. Only improvement would be long tubes, but the gains will be marginal.

egon87 03-05-2014 11:15 PM

who cares its not going in your car and plus cali got theis wack ass emission law so that why im going with shorties if cali didnt have this law then yea for sure go with long tubes,
