Headlamp **** on = weird smell from vents + excessive heat
I absolutely have to get my car into a shop one way or another but I figured I'd post this question anyway and see who else has had this issue. It has only been since a recent trip about 1123 miles in length. Whenever I turn my headlights on, I notice that the center console (Enviro+Radio+CD) gets very hot to the touch and a weird, rubbery plastic kind of smell will eventually start eeking out from the vents, ac/fan off. More so if on. This sounds an awful lot like an electrical issue but one mechanic I had spoken to simply dismissed it as a loose bulb. Following that, I tried turning down the inside lights to minimum and its true that the console doesnt get as hot however the smell does eventually form.
Any ideas?
Some back history, prior to the trip, two coolant lines blew out (managed to stop in time before cooking engine) With the lines fixed, I also had the AC recharged and everything else was marked as good to go.
