My son's 2004 Mustang was involved in a minor accident a week ago and came back from the body shop with a service engine soon light. I had diagnostics ran on the car and it indicated that the inertia switch is tripped or open. The car runs fine so the inertia did not shut off the fuel pump. I located the switch and it dosn't appear that the switch is tripped. I fear that if he drives it that it may eventually trip and leave him stranded. I shopped the local parts retailers on the chance that replacing the switch might resolve the issue but none of them cary the switch. Any recommendations on how to clear the service engine soon light?

I hate saying this, but bring it to Ford to be sure. It'll cost a little more, but they have the trained personal to look at the switch and ensure it won't cause problems.
