Default KEYFOB HELP! I am about to give up.

So, starting from the beginning. My key fob just randomly stopped working. So I got a new one and a new battery from Autozone. We did the key fob test thingy and my old one would not respond at all. Well my new one will NOT program.I tried to do what the manual and others have said, turning it on and off 8 times to turn on programming mode. I get the to the point where locks cycle, but it nothing happens when i press the buttons on the fob. I have done everything from unplugging the battery, unplugging (From what i thought) the transmitter, i have unplugged the alternator (shouldn't matter anyways i know). I have tried everything. Any suggestions? I have a 2004

Answered in your other thread, but if it goes into programming mode and wont respond to the new fob , then its the wrong frequency. Where did you get the key fob from?

Default keyfob problem

Dawson is right. You must have the wrong frequency. Check the frequency on the old one and the new( it will be printed on the back cover). If you cant read it because it is worn off it might be printed on the printed curcuit in the unit. They used the same keyfob for many years and vehicles though. I bought mine through E-bay and they worked fine.

I know this is an older thread, but I also have a programming question maybe someone can help with. I've searched online and everyone says to cycle the key 8 time........but when I do this my car doesn't respond. Meaning that the locks don't even cycle after turning the key. Am I missing something?

Found another link on the web that explained you have to manually lock you door before cycling the key 8 times. Got it fixed.
