V6 Auto Transmission Stuck In Park
So I have a 2000 V6 auto that is stuck in park. Im able to move the shifter out of park if I put a lot of force on the little button on the side of the shifter handle. Why is it so hard for me to shift out of park now? Only happens when I'm taking it out of park though. This problem happened at random and now every time I need to drive somewhere it's a big hassle. Ive heard a possible fuse has gone out, number 17, or 35 located underneath the driver dash, or a possible cable? Im a college student and I don't plan on taking it in to a dealer and spending big bucks, so I'm looking for your guys help and opinions. Thanks!!

check to see if your brake lights are working if they are not the brake switch or the wiring at the switch are common to be bad, this will not let the shift interlock release. in a pinch you can turn the key forward 1 click and then shift out of park to neutral, then start the car and shift to drive or reverse, you will have no brake lights and if u shift into park you will have to perform this process each time. but at least u can limp it home, to a shop, etc.
