transmission extension housing seal leak
So I finally able to eliminate the oil and power steering leaks, one more leaking seals to go. Any pointers on removing/replacing the seal or what's a good part? it seems what I have there is the National Seal, I might check the stealership tomorrow for an OEM seal.

pretty simple, pull the driveshaft, pop the seal out, tap in the new seal using an installer, or a large socket, reinstall the shaft, top off the trans and away you go

thanks, got the seal from the stealership. $15 and it's different from that leaking aftermarket seal (not sure if it's national or atp) could be a bad install too. it's leaking on the outer edge of the seal, I'm guessing it was tapped badly.
looking for free time to tackle this, it doesn't seem to be complicated. -------------------------------------------------------- https://www.facebook.com/diyfordmustang |
got it fixed this weekend, a 2" pvc coupler is a good seal installer tool. it fits the seal perfectly and using a piece of 2x4 to flush it works like a charm. the old one doesn't have the drain hole and is not booted, not sure if that caused its demise. didn't lose any trans fluid since I jacked it up high in the rear end.
