Default funky sound coming from exhaust

Car will start and sound fine, but when I have it in reverse , drive, or neutral and put pressure on the gas the car revs up and makes a almost like puttering noise when let off the Gas almost like something is in the exhaust. Other than there being something in it what could be the issue. And it will not move when in drive but will kind of go when in reverse after a little gas to it.

Does it die after puttering in drive?

No it doesn't it will go through all gears on the shifter but not actually go into gear yesterday I got it to reverse a little and I finally don't know why I didn't do it to begin with but I am going to change the transmission fluid and see if that does anything but if you have any ideas I would appreciate it

Had an issue similar with my mom's escape she had 2 or 3 years ago and our problem was the exhaust was starting to clog up in the cat. Do you have a loss of power or black smoke blowing out? Any codes being thrown? Definitely go with changing fluid first though.

Replaced fluid and not that could it be my torque converter? Or could I have clogged cats

It's possible but before you go get a new one I'd check the cats. Easy way to do that is pull each O2 sensor one at a time and see if it makes a difference. You don't have any other problems besides the putter from the exhaust right?

Well no matter what gear the shifter is in it won't move, and sometimes when reved in reverse it will move a little but not a lot and the noise I heard might be the cats I read something that said they can make noise when they are bad

No idea on noise but if it wont move in gear and just revs thats a trans problem. If its a straight shift then it sounds like the clutch is ruined. Also you can drive a auto without the torque converter. I did it in my Trans-Am for many years. It started giving me problems and I had the mechanic just bypass it or something. Could barely tell a difference. If it was clogged cats you would move but lack power..like floor it but it barely speed up and do it sloooooowly. It will also stink really bad. Cats can make noise when the precious metal screens in them break.
