I have a 1999 Mustang V6 with 130xxx

I have had the returning code PO401. First popped up about a 4 months ago, but went off until about a month ago. I recently replaced the EGR valve itself, because that's what AutoZone told me. After I replaced it code went off for about 60 miles but came back on. AutoZone is now telling me it's the EGR pressure sensor. Before I go dropping more money in to this annoying code, has any one had this problem or know of a solution?

normally it's the sensor that fails first before the valve itself (common on fords). I have that same error on my mountaineer and replacing the sensor fixed it.
don't trust whatever the parts store guys recommends.

I just had the same code on my 2000 V6. It turned out to be the DPFE sensor (pressure sensor). Check the hose coming into it from the passenger side exhaust manifold - that hose gets hot as the blazes down by the manifold and will break eventually. Do all the visual checks first - check electrical connector, check all hoses, check wiring for chaffing. I couldn't find the voltage readings for the DPFE to make sure it's working. I grabbed one from the bone yard for $7.00 - I looked for a V6 that had a new looking sensor.
