Default Thermostat reading hot when idling?

Hey all, I have a 2000 Ford Mustang V6. Just yesterday while sitting idling in a drive thru waiting on my food I noticed my thermostat was steadily going up to hot. Luckily advanced auto was just two buildings down so I went and bought a new thermostat and gauge and got it put on and it's STILL doing it??? When I'm driving it's fine it'll go back to the half way mark where it should be but if I sit at a red light or idle for a good minute it wants to kick the fan on and show it's getting hot??

If the thermostat is good then coolant level, or fan. A fan can be bad and still kick on. It just wont run long enough or strong enough. Could also be a bad radiator cap .
