Default Transmission swap?

I have a 1998 mustang v6 automatic (4r70w) that I have broken the tail shaft housing on 4 times! I have new motor mounts and a new transmission mount yet it broke again. My friend has a 2001 mustang v6 that threw a rod and has a manual trans and I was wondering if it is compatible with my 98? I know I would have to get the computer reflashed for manual but that is fine.

Did you ever replace the driveshaft? Sounds like its out of balance somehow.

the 2001trans is, i believe, cross-compatible with the 98. There will be a difference in the flywheels though. Youll need the pedal assembly, and a trans wiring harness from a 94-98.

I haven't replaced the driveshaft its all stock and i checked to see if the balancing weights were still there which they are. So are the pedal Assemblies not cross compatible? And Can I use the flywheel from the 2001 as well?

You cant use the flywheel from the 2001- internally balanced vs externally.

I believe the pedals will work. But most forget to grab them.
