Splitting stock 2000 v6 exhast to run into flowmasters
I broke my knee so I can't work on my car as much as I normally do. Noticed I was leaking tranny fluid so I had to stop by a shop and have them replace tranny pan gasket and filter. Well, the owner specializes in exhaust. I've been wanting to do this for awhile to try to get it to sound better. I don't want to delete my cats because I don't want a check engine light or hard time passing smog. I'm running stock exhaust manifolds but want to cut the Y out so both manifolds run to their own mufflers on both sides. The guy Said if I wanted it to sound really nice, just dump the exhaust a little past the muffler under the car on to the ground. IDK if this is a good idea or not. Also, seperating my exhaust into two, then running it into their own flowmaster, am I going to get a more aggressive tone? What about horsepower, fuel milage and all that stuff? I really don't know what advantages or disavantages I'm looking at. I don't race so I'm not worried about major horsepower gains. I want it to sound nice and don't have money to upgrade the entire exhaust system. Thanks forgot to mention that I have a CAI

Not sure if this helps you, but have you thought about something like this, not saying this exactly, but something along this line... Maybe the guy at the shop can make something like this work for you.
