Exclamation Rear bumper hit concern.

Hi! I'm still pretty new to this forum so please excuse me if i post this in the wrong section:

I have a Ford Mustang 2005 V6.

I accidentally hit my rear bumper driving through my university campus, when i made a right turn i heard a big THUMP and i checked it. I'm just curious on what kind of damage i have caused. My bumper took the hit yes, I just want to make sure before winter if I should do anything about it. I'm guessing from the picture it looks a bit misaligned after. So my BIG question is Is there anything underneath the mustang on the rear bumper right side end that I should look for( any important parts that MIGHT be damaged by hitting the rear bumper)?

Just wondering. My friend told me its just the bumper that got moved a little bit. And here:

Here is the side that got hit: Its from the back of the car on the right

Here is the perfect aligned one back of the car on the left:

What are some of the concerns that I might stumble upon? I checked beneath it and see nothing out of place.

Any advice or suggestion will help! Thank you for looking!

Hanzo

You will have to pull the cover off to see what was bent, and either replace the
part or bent it back. There are metal reinforcement parts back there. The
other is the retaining bracket.

Thanks for the response!

Can you tell me what the metal reinforcement parts and retaining bracket does?

sorry i only have this mustang for 5 months. Still learning about it. But there is nothing super important or essential that could be damaged through bumper right?

It sounds like most of the important parts are the front end of the car. So the back are just reinforcements/support for the bumpers if i'm reading this correctly.
