18mm socket with a breaker bar attached or 18mm wrench on that bolt in the middle of the pulley. Pull it up and release the tension on the belt. Takes about a minute to replace a belt.
THANK YOU! But don't forget to sketch a belt routing pic.
Defintely do that, my car lost it's sticker so once I took the belt off and then couldn't remember how to route it..Thank god for Haynes manuals!
Mine never had one.

Thanks for all the replies. I never worked on a Ford before, just Chevy (still drive one), but my wife has the Stang so now I'll be doing things to it. I have the shop manuals for my S10 but how about good ones for the 2000 Mustang. Thanks in advance.

go to your local auto parts shop and get a serpantine belt remover. Will cost you 15-20 bucks, or some have them to rent for 5 bucks. I fiddled with mine for an hour until I went to autozone and saw it. Once I got it home took me 10 min to change the belt. Was worth the money.

Haynes manual works well but they do leave out some details. Mine covers '96-'00 though so if they make one for 99-04 get that one. There are some details that are left out on the '96-'00 one and I'm assuming that's because the book was printed in 99.

Been there done that! Thank god for the internet the first time around. The repair manual has a diagram which I refer to now any time I need it.
