255/45/18's ?

Hello, Is anyone out there running 255/45/18's on 9" wheels? I have a 2004 (All Stock) mustang vert, and I just purchased new wheels. They are 18x9 AFS wheels. All 4 wheels are the same. I was wondering if 255/45/18's would work, or are they to tall? I would like as much sidewall as I can get. I have other options on sizes, but I haven't seen much talk on 255/45/18's. This size would give me about a 4.5" sidewall. Thanks for your help. Drive-On ;)

I'm sorry, You said you have 245's? Do you have 255/45's? The picture of your car looks good. What is the actual size of your tires in front? Can you please give me all (3) dimensions of your tires, Width/Sidewall/Size. Thank You. Drive-On ;)

A friend has 45s on his R17s and the fit with lots of room but the car is at its stock height.

they should work with stock ride height. But if you plan on dropping your car I would go swap the fronts for 245's

Thanks for the advice. If anyone actually has 255/45/18's please let me know. I am worried about the profile (45). I wasn't sure if the tire would be to tall and maybe throw off the speedo or the computer. Drive-On ;)

Yes, going with 45 sidewall will throw off your speedo because the overall wheel/tire size is bigger than stock.

You are supposed to try to keep the overall wheel/tire size the same from stock 245/45/17......to somthing like 255/40/18s. I would recommend going with 40's.

Especially if you plan to lower your car at all....

RE: 255/45/18's ?

Thank You. A (40) profile seems to be the tire of choice. I will stick with that. I also found out ,that the wider the tire, the taller the side wall will be, even with the same profile (40). So a 275/40/18 would have a taller sidewall than a 255/40/18. Thanks again to all. Drive-On ;)

I have 255/45 tires on and I think that they are too tall. I have a lot more pics in the link in my sig.
