Default Type of Gas...

Just yesterday I realized at my typical gas station the premium gas was up to 3.17 a gallon. Scince I have a speed pass my mom gave me I could go anywhere else so to save my mom money I put mid grade in it (89 octane) I think this was a bad mistake... my car seems to hate it. It doesn't have as much pick up and it seems to be running through it really fast... I already used maybe a 16th of a tank and I just drove it home from the gas station (maybe 3 miles) So now to the point... I was wondering if anybody knew if this is normal? Is it okay to put midgrade in a 97 6-er? And will it hurt anything?

They are made to run with regular 87 octane gas. Unless you have a tune for something higher, it shouldn't make a difference.

I don't know why you were using anything but 87 oct. on a stock sixer, higher octane will not make a difference, you are just wasting your money, unless you have a tune on your car that requires higher octane

i run 89 in mine during the summer it seems to get better mileage it seems like i have picked up 20 miles to the tank since they put the ethanol in it i was getting only like 190 to the tank now im getting 220-230miles on 89 octane

the only reason to go up to midgrade is if your car pings with 87 octane...that or you have a specific tune for it. otherwise it is just a waste of money, however it shouldn't decrease gas mileage or cause any problems.

i doubt you get better milage because of the gas. durring the summer most cars will usually get slightly better milage anyway.
