Default So I have an 1998 Mustang, and I have $300, what would you recommend?

Details are in the title. Its a V6, and it doesn't have any upgrades on it (just bought it used). Anyways, I want to put some more power into this thing. I know Im gonna get some new gears in it later, but for now what would you recommend me doing with a budget of $300. I was looking at some CAI systems, but Im lost when it comes to the best brand and everything. Is there something else that would help more?

Thanks

I always try to warn new people first off about how expensive modding a v6 is, especially for the early SN95's. I have a 98auto aswell, is yours auto or manual? Our v6's just dont seem to have the more power: $$ spent ratio that v8's have, so unless your budget is high, or you dont plan on improving it to much, I'd suggest you look well before you leap.

For 300$ and beginner mods, I'd say CAI & UDP's is a step in the right direction...

go exhaust!! make it sound better, better looks, better performance and for under 300 you can get 2 mufflers of your choice and have a shop fab some TRUE DUELS for you

Just wondering, before I even really consider this, I have an auto transmission. Is it even worth putting parts in with that?

Thanks

I was hoping you'd say it was manual, cuz our auto's are slow, aren't they?

I think it is, you can always upgrade drivetrain down the road if you like...

if you put in higher gears i'd go with the 3:73 gears if its your daily driver but you should get a Limited Slip Differential

I was looking at gears like that for my next upgrade, and I couldn't decide between those or the 4.10s. Anyone else have any suggestions as to which I should get next? I bought a K&N Air Filter and I am going to buy a bbk CAI system soon, and I might be able to get enough money for some gears.

If you found a couple good deals you could probably get most of what you would need for a split port swap. + 40 hp
