I am disappointed with my car. I've had her 9 years now and was never impressed with the acceleration. My wife's '06 4 cylinder accord is much quicker off the line than my stang.

I would like to get either 3.73 or 4.10 gears and perhaps a LSD. Is that it? Am I finished after putting these mods in? My only current mod is a CAI. Do I need to buy a ton of other upgrades to stabilize or repair my car? Do I need the repair kit with bearings included if I do the LSD? I guess I am looking for a complete parts and expense list to justify a purchase. I receive a $1,000 bonus in a week and would rather not just put it into principle on the home! On a 3.8 car? Good car for dd, I wouldn't spend money modding one though. Take your bonus, sell the V6, buy a Mustang with a V8 (PI 2V or better).

Get a v8.......and nothing wrong with throwing the $$ at the house mortgage either.

I think seeking a V8 model would be in your best interests, but if you'd like to pursue changing your gears, yes, a new bearing kit is a must at that age. You're sure to find some wear at 160k, especially in the pinion bearings.

But I suspect that you have the 7.5 rear end, which severely limits your options. Moving on to a GT model would mean having the 8.8, which already has LSD. Getting a rebuild kit for a used 8.8 is much easier on the wallet than swapping a LSD carrier into a 7.5. If you intend to keep your car, you could also consider swapping a full 8.8 axle from a salvage yard and rebuilding it...

Lots of pros & cons to consider, budget-wise. Upgrade to V8 model? Purchase an entire 8.8 axle & spend money rebuilding it? Invest in the 7.5?

If an 06 4cyl Accord feels quicker with 160hp/tq, then maybe your car needs a tune up. IMO even with 160k on the clock the car was still rated with 193hp/225tq and its a 5 speed so maybe it needs some maintenance. When was the last time the spark plugs and wires were replaced? Air and fuel filter?

I've never replaced the fuel filter... and it's been awhile since I cleaned the air filter.

Plugs and wires only have about 15k on them. New coil pack as well. Brakes are free. Could fuel filter and medium dirty air filter affect that much?

I would go with 2005 or newer GT instead.

Yes a filter can affect it it can starve the engine resulting in reduced power especially with ethanol in the gas now my last one had chunks of rust come out of it and it only had 30k on it.

My vote would be to step up too. A 1k Dow payment would be a wiser investment than putting money in a high miler like that. Take it from another guy here that learned the hard way. With your trade and your 1k cash I'm sure you could get into a very good early s197 for a good monthly payment I put no money down on my 09 and love it. Also the GT will respond d better to mods and last you longer.

Getting into an unnecessary car payment because you have some extra money for a down payment is probably the stupidest advise you could have gotten on here.

Your best bet would be get an 8.8 and install it. You will have more gear options and spend less than trying to upgrade the 7.5.
