Thinking about buying a used 2000 v6 auto
Whats up everyone,
Im new to this forum, well new to forums in general, but im 19 and i serve active duty and im thinking about buying a used 2000 v6 mustang, the ones in my area typically have a mileage of 150,000+, i plan to have this car for at least 2 years, my question was, since its a used car with high miles, what are some things i should replace or upgrade to the car or engine thatll make it last and drive smooth? What i was originally going to do was give it a tune up, oil change, new brake pads/rotors, CAI. Is there anything else i should do? Thank you to anyone who responds

Unless they want $1500 for it, I would stay away from it, unless:
The back end is not all rusted out, this is COMMON. The gas tanks
fall out of these ones. The rust gets so bad back there, and it's really
not repairable. If it's VERY clean, it's worth it. My son got a 2002
for $2700 with 131,000, rust is manageable, and the interior was pristine.
It needed a thermostat, was all. According to the original owner, the CEL
has been coming on for years, so it needed one for YEARS. He claimed
there was no code, he's was a liar, it was a cylinder head hi-temp code. Well,
the T-stat finally failed when we got it. Valve cover gaskets are brand new...
No engine noise. No more CEL after replacing the T-stat! The only
reason it passed emissions was because he put under 5000 a year on it,
so the CEL was never really addressed. He said his mechanic could
not pull a code from it, well, I did with a $20.00 Walmart bought reader.
Anyhow:
I would not dump a lot of money in on performance right away, just do the
plugs, wires, and coil pack; oil and filter, to see how it runs.
If they want more than $2000 for it, I'd pass unless it's spotless...
