mine goes up over the engine, but you're right it's a tight fit.

I actually had to put mine in a pipe bender to adjust it slightly to avoid rubbing against the motor.

Ford sure didn't leave much room in there.

I really don't think the brace is going to do much, although it looks good. The bar is going to flex at that weld in the middle just as easily as the frame would flex. For version 2 I would suggest no welds across the span of the bar, it needs be bent or molded instead.
