help with h-pipe location
Hey guys,
My dual exhaust project is almost ready to install! I'm getting a catback custom system built with 2.5" pipes leading into Vortex mufflers with 3" polished stainless tips.
Here's where I'm still stuck: I purchased a generic h-pipe on ebay so I could have a crossover between my pipes, but I'm not sure exactly where to put it. I've heard that the crossover should go in the hottest spot and that there are special heat-reactant crayons used to find this point, but I don't really feel the need to get that technical.
I figure I can more or less eyeball it if any of you could help me out by posting pics of your aftermarket h-pipes under the car. If you know the measurements that would be great as well. The crossover is much closer to the cats than the mufflers, right?
Thanks,
Tim

RE: help with h-pipe location
Sorry to bump this old thread, but I'm still looking for some help installing my h-pipe.
DOES ANYONE WITH AN H-PIPE HAVE PICS OF THE UNDERSIDE OF THE CAR?
I just want to be able to estimate where the crossover should go.
Thanks,
Tim

RE: help with h-pipe location
well it kida common sense, too far to the center of the car and your driveshaft will hit it throught compression of your suspension
too close and your cross member will be insanly long

RE: help with h-pipe location
It is pretty close to the same place the 'Y' was cut off... The guy at Meinike did all the work, and he had done several before, so he knew where to place it It always helps to have someone who knows what they are doing do it right the first time.
