Anyone here do any autocross (Solo II) racing with their Stang? A buddy of mine does it with his Subaru and I am going to go with him to the season opener on April 20th. Looks a lot more interesting than drag racing, and requires much more skill. They have separate classes, and there is a muscle car class (so I'll face Camaros and Chargers and what not rather than AWD Subaru STI's). Classes are also divided based on mods etc., so they try and make it a real drivers race.

So... I just thought I'd open this thread up as a discussion.

Anyone have any experience, pointers, etc.?

Our cars are adequately powered, so it seems suspension/handling mods will be the road to success (although I am going to get that intake/tune on before the season opens, I promise!).

I replaced the front anti-sway with the GT takeoff and the Hellwig rear is on its way. I'm thinking of going with some Eibach pro springs soon too. Tires make a huge difference, but I just got those Pirelli's so I'm gonna let 'em ride for a while (they're not the greatest, still an "all-season" style tire).

It really looks like for your first couple seasons, most improvements come from driving skill and not the specs of your car. But, I still want to have a fighting chance.
