does anyone know the laws about how loud you car can be
i have had buddies with cobras that have been pulled over for being to loud but passing emmitions here in va and i was just wondering

Depends on your state and local gvt!

All states have some law regarding exhaust noise, and some counties take the state law and take it to a higher level.

Most states have a specific decibel level defined and some determained distance... Illinois is one of these states.

Others have no specific law outside of "You can hear it at 100 feet" or something like that.

and yet others (Like Missouri), simply state that altering the exhaust from factory design is against the law - that is to say in Missouri you won't get a ticket for exessive exhaust noise, but rather, you will get a ticket for having an altered exhaust!

Go to your states website and do a search for "exhaust noise".

In addition to the laws, if you live in states like California theyll write your a$$ in a heart beat for anything or you can live where I do and they dont bother you even though the laws are on the books...

I know that florida is pretty lax about exhaust laws. also most laws reguarding modified vehicles. my dads sl has braubus exhaust and it is loud as hell but he never gets pulled

just know when to take it easy and were all the cops hide in your town. it's fun to have to always be watching out for them because you know your car is too badass for them to handle.
